An “EPIC” Adventure

On March 1, 2012, Central Minnesota Neurosciences will join the growing number of regional clinics that, along with the St. Cloud Hospital, have adopted the EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR). Just as health care providers inform patients that “this may hurt a little but will feel so much better once we are finished,” the same can be said for adopting electronic medical records. While difficult and sometimes painful initially, in the end the process results in many significant advantages over old paper charts for patients, doctors, hospitals and payors.
